When to surf in Sumatra:
The best time to surf in Sumatra is from March to October, even if there are waves all year round. The climate is tropical and dry season is from May to September. Water temperature stays still around 28°C...

This surf camp run by a French guy is located in the North West of Sumatra, on Banyak island.
The surf camp is an house on stilts.
The location is not affected by the waves from nearby spots.
The main house where the restaurant is located is linked by a pontoon to the rooms bungalow.
Natural materials were used for the building, like wood and bamboo.
Each room is fitted with bathroom, mosquito net, fan and towels.
The surf camp power supply works with generators and for ecological reasons, the current is cut 2 or 3 hours in the morning and 2 or 3 hours in the afternoon.
The guests are invited to take environmental friendly products only, like shampoo, soap, tooth paste, natural sunscreen to protect the undamaged nature surrounding the camp.
There are 3 waves near the surf camp:
Gunturs - A right with 3 sections which gives several barrels. It is a swell magnet which works everytime. A barrel machine.
Lolok Point - A left which works with a good swell. There are several sections which surround the top of the island and create barrels.
Dindos - A perfect left, excellent to train at maneouvres.
Less than an hour by boat, on Bangkaru island, are located some more waves:
Treasure Island - Banyak islands treasure, with a right with 3 barrel sections.
