The Mediterranean isn't necessarily the first destination you think of when it comes to surfing. The choices are often the Landes and the Basque Country. However, contrary to popular belief, there are some really good waves on the shores of the Mediterranean. If you want to surf while soaking up the sun, here's a selection of the best waves in the Mediterranean. surf spots to try in the destination.

Six-Four-Les-Plages, a good surfing spot to discover

Very popular with the people of the Var, the vast Bonnegrâce beach at Six-Four-Les-Plages is a great place to enjoy some fabulous beaches. surf sessions in the Mediterranean. Stretching over a kilometre in length, it is home to the famous Brutal Beach spot. Visit surfers and longboarders when the Mistral is at its best. You'll find easy waves. As the spot is used quite often, you should be aware that it's quite busy.

A few kilometres away is the seaside resort of Bandol. This is a good spot, close to Anse de Renécros. Because of the presence of a reef, however, it is more suited to bodyboard. Palavas-les-Flots, a paradise for water sports enthusiasts

In the department of Hérault, not far from Montpellier, the famous seaside resort of Palavas-les-Flots is a choice destination for going to surfing in the Mediterranean. The resort is best known for offering a multitude of facilities and sports associations devoted to water sports activities. From kayaking and jousting to scuba diving and windsurfing, there's something for everyone.

For great surfing sessions, the beach break at Palavas-les-Flots is an exceptional spot to try out in the Mediterranean. It stands out for the quality of its waves, even if they are irregular. Plage des Roquilles is another interesting spot, with some great rights and lefts.

Gruissan, a nice destination for surfing

Located in the department of Aude, north of Port-la-Nouvelle, the commune of Gruissan attracts travellers for its port, its beaches and its salt marshes. It is also a real land of welcome for windsurfers and kitesurfers who come there every year by thousands. It should be noted that the city of Aude is also very popular with surfers.

The locality shelters the wild beach of Mateille, a natural site classified by the Conservatoire du littoral, which is considered to be one of the windiest spots of the Mediterranean. Thus, with the reinforcement of the Tramontane, the spot of Gruissan frequently presents fabulous conditions for the surfers. Moreover, the offshore wind digs the waves well, which become very pleasant to ride.

Villefranche-sur-Mer, a spot dedicated to experienced surfers

The surf spot Villefranche-sur-Mer is located in the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur region, in the town of Villefranche-sur-Mer. It is known for its powerful breakers, which can reach heights of 2 to 3 metres and break violently when swell conditions are right.

With a reputation for being dangerous, this spot is reserved for seasoned surfers. The current is strong and it's difficult to get into the water, particularly due to the presence of a reef and a cliff. The best time to surf this spot is during the incoming tide. For experienced surfers, riding the waves at Villefranche-sur-Mer is a great challenge.

For our part, we only offer kite trips in the Mediterranean. The conditions for surfing in the middle sea are not stable enough to offer trips where the surf will be there. That's why we've concentrated on west side surfcamps of France.
