Mentawai
The surfing adventure by essence, nestled in the hollow of a paradise island, preserved from mass tourism and delivering incredible waves.
Easier to get to than a trip to Mentawaii, the waves are pretty much the same quality. The small island of Simeulue is 150km north-west of Sumatra, and is very uncrowded, so you can surf without worrying about boats or other overcrowding, which is becoming increasingly prevalent in Indonesia.

The island of Simuelue has a lot to offer visitors. You'll find beautiful deserted beaches, caves, forests, wildlife, culture in small towns all over the island, lakes, waterfalls and, of course, perfect, uncrowded surf spots! The Simeulue island region is made up of many islands, Pulau Simeulue being the largest. Most of the smaller islands are accessible by boat and well worth a visit. Simeulue lies off the west coast of Sumatra, just north of the equator. The well-known island of Nias is only a stone's throw away, but it could be on the other side of the world. You won't find 'mass tourism' on the island of Simeulue like on Nias.
Let's hope it stays that way for a long time to come! Sinabang is the main town on the island of Simeulue and home to the island's only ATM. It's about 25 minutes by motorbike. Local shops can be found all over the island, and will provide you with everything you need. A bottle of petrol, a toothbrush, cigarettes and small food items are just a few examples.
Full board is included in the surf package, and you can enjoy delicious Asian and Western dishes 3 times a day on your private terrace or at the bar at the entrance to the lodge. Unlimited water, tea and coffee.
Warning: this is a stay 100% surf

Perfect surftrip to Simeulue. Simeulue surflodge is ideally located opposite Dylan's right and quite central to the other spots. The staff at the lodge are really friendly, but they're not surfers so don't expect any recommendations in terms of spots etc...
