With a south-easterly swell, the wave is long and perfect for manoeuvres. When the swell is south-westerly, it's fast and technical, perfect for wedging in at the bottom of the barell. At Haapiti, the water is shallow but the waves are punchy.
As the wave is on the pass, you'll need to book a surf taxi to get there.

It is hot all year round! However, there are two main seasons: from December to the end of February, it is hot with temperatures ranging from 25 to 35°C but it is a season prone to tropical showers that generally last no more than 30 minutes. From March to November, it is the dry season with temperatures between 22 and 27 °C.
