We take you to the south-west of the island, to Anakao. This is a small fishing village. It is known both for its surroundings (good fishing + snorkelling spots) and for the surf spots that can be found there.
There are some very good spots in the area, including Jelly Babies which is a magnificent wave accessible to all, beginners as well as experienced riders, or else Resorts which is a reef break which only works on days when there's a big swell. It's in the morning that we go surfing, as in the afternoon the wind picks up and it's the kitesurfers who take their place on the water. You should know that most of the surf spots are quite far from the shore, so we have a shuttle boat that can take you to any spot nearby.
Our surfcamp welcomes you in bungalows equipped with all the comforts you need for a pleasant stay. Upstairs in the main building, you'll discover a magnificent view over the bay of Saint-Augustin and fill your belly, as this is where our restaurant is located.
Our surfcamp has a total of 6 bungalows. Each is equipped with a 140x190 bed, an open wardrobe, a shower and washbasin, a dry toilet and a drying rack for surf or kite equipment.
Each is equipped with:
The restaurant, located on the first floor of the main building, offers views over the whole of St Augustin Bay and the lavakolovo and antserake spots.
Antserake surf&kite camp is located in the centre of the main spots. These are influenced by the tides, which can be as high as 3.30m, and the wind. The quality of the waves is conditioned by these two elements and requires a good knowledge of the area to choose the right spot to surf.
Most surfing takes place in the morning, when an offshore wind makes most of the spots surfable. In the afternoon, a southerly wind sets in, making the on-shore spots impassable, except in front of the camp (side-off wind).
It's also in the afternoon that the kitesurfers take to the water, taking advantage of the well-established southerly wind.
Situated in the heart of the surfing zone and therefore close to all the surfing areas of Anakao, Sarodrano and Tulear, the camp has a speedboat so you can get to the spot of your choice every morning. All are a long way from the shore and only the spots opposite the camp can be reached by rowing from the beach.
The rate for a stay at " Antserake surf&kite camp "is 70€ per person per day on a full-board basis (breakfast, lunch and dinner). This price also includes trips by speedboat or motorboat to the spots (depending on weather conditions). Prices exclude drinks and extras.
